FAQ's
Q: What should I prepare for an audition?
A: For your audition you will sing scales so you can warm up and we can get a feel for your range, then you will perform a song of your choice that best showcases your vocal abilities and best qualities. This song should be about 1 minute long, which roughly translates to a verse and a chorus.
Q: Is it okay if I don't have any experience?
A: Yes, we love raw talent! For some of our members this was their first time singing or beatboxing.
Q: Do you accept walk-ins?
A: Yes! While signing up for an audition slot will guarantee less of a wait, you can always walk-in for your audition.
Q: Do you only accept undergrads into your group?
A: Any UCLA student can be a part of our group! We've had undergrads, Master's students, PhD students, and extension students join Resonance.
Q: I don't know what song to sing. What should I do?
A: Pick a song that highlights the best parts of your voice. We recommend shying away from musical theater and classical music. Other than that, choose whatever song makes you confident and comfortable!
Q: Why should I audition for Resonance?
A: Resonance is the definition of "work hard, play hard". We do yearly competitions (ICCA, LAAF, Spring Sing), quarterly retreats, concerts, fundragers, socials, and more. But most of all, we're a family. Just go for it!
