Resonance is a competitive a cappella group from UCLA open to people of all voice parts, majors, and walks of life—united by a shared passion for making music that connects and inspires. Since our founding in 2012 we have established ourselves as a premier group with a unique sound, vibrant energy, and high level of musical excellence.

WE ARE RESONANCE
OUR HISTORY
Resonance was founded by five ambitious students in 2012 and quickly grew in both size and sound. In 2014 and 2016, our group performed for an audience of 10,000 at UCLA's renowned musical competition Spring Sing. In 2017, we competed for the first time at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), and we would go on to compete every year since. In our first year of competition, we placed 2nd at the ICCA Southwest Quarterfinal, 3rd at the ICCA Southwest Semifinal, won awards for Outstanding Arrangement at both competitions, and made unforgettable memories. That same year, Resonance recorded and released our first studio album, In This Light.
In 2018 and 2020 Resonance placed 1st in the ICCA West Quarterfinals, advancing us to Semifinals and winning awards for Outstanding Soloist and Outstanding Arrangement.

We didn't let a virtual year slow us down; in 2020 and 2021, we continued to rehearse and compete, and we went on to place 1st in the 2021 virtual Los Angeles A Cappella Festival (LAAF). Later that year, we placed 1st in the virtual ICCA West Quarterfinal and 1st in the virtual ICCA West Semifinal, winning Outstanding Vocal Percussion and Outstanding Mix, and advancing us to ICCA Finals!
Back in person, we eagerly returned to the Spring Sing and ICCA stages in 2022, and the LAAF stage in 2023. Most recently, we advanced to ICCA West Semifinals two years in a row, winning Outstanding Arrangement and 2nd Place in 2024 Quarterfinals; and Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Vocal Percussion, and 2nd place at the 2025 ICCA Quarterfinals. We went on to place 4th in the 2025 ICCA West Semifinal, all while producing a music video, releasing an EP, and performing across LA. We are currently working on our second studio album, or next competition set, and preparing to be the host group of LAAF 2026. And, above all, we are having fun and finding the joy in music.
why we
do it
We are driven by a love for performance, friendships, and a commitment to musical excellence. We strive to bring our performances to as many spaces as possible; competitions, concerts, philanthropy events, or each other's living rooms. Above all, we emphasize togetherness through music, always hoping to spread joy to one another and to those around us
